Save big while still getting professional guidance for your work. A manuscript evaluation is an awesome tool for the writer with a smaller budget.
Manuscript Evaluation
- Review our terms and conditions and ask any questions you have before making a purchase.
- Purchase the manuscript evaluation service for the approximate amount of words in your piece or request an invoice and we'll do a word count for you and invoice you for the difference.
- Click the 'Choose File' button under the quantity box to upload your manuscript and complete the checkout process.
- A professional developmental editor will review your entire manuscript and provide comments wherever they find problems, including why an issue may be problematic and what your options are for repairing the issue. The evaluation also includes an executive summary letting you know how close the piece is to being "print ready," a scene or section list, premise breakdown, what the major strengths of the piece are, what the major vulnerabilities of the piece are, and what we recommend your next steps in the book development process be.
- We submit the evaluation to you so you can use it to revise your own work on your own time. One hour of book coaching is included with your service per 30,000 words. For example, if your book is 100,000 words long, you would be entitled to 3 hours of book coaching call time to help guide you and clarify feedback so that you can more effectively apply the suggestions included within the evaluation. You will have 60 days to use each hour of book coaching time (i.e., every 60 days you will lose an hour of your allotted time.) until you have depleted your allotment. Any unused book coaching time will be forfeited after the usage window closes. We recommend scheduling your book coaching call as soon as you get your evaluation back so that you don't forget and end up losing any of your time.
Timeline: Generally about 1 week per 20,000 words, though this can change based on multiple variables (such as how long it takes you to submit the file, office holidays, how long your payment takes to be finalized, etc.).
No editing: An evaluation is just an assessment of the work as it stands when you submit it. We will not be making any direct changes to the piece beyond adding our commentary to it. This service is meant for authors who want to get an outside, professional opinion on their piece so that they can take that feedback and apply it to their manuscript as they see fit. If you want someone to make changes on your behalf, you will need to purchase an actual editing service such as developmental editing.
