Copy Editing
Copy Editing
PLEASE NOTE: Copy editing corrects grammatical issues. This means that a lack of self-revisions and developmental editing will still leave any problems the piece has with content organization, character development, or plot. You can have a grammatically refined piece that still has major content issues. Be sure to get those taken care of first (manuscript evaluation, developmental editing, alpha reading, etc.) before ordering this service.
Apprentices: Order using your Patreon email address and select "Invoice Me" at checkout to get your #WUApprentice discount for services and books.
Copy Editing
- Purchase the copy editing service for the amount of words in your piece. Note within your order notes if you want Track Changes turned on. In order to avoid panic and confusion experienced in the past by newbie authors ordering this service, we don't turn Track Changes on by default, only by request.
- Submit your manuscript (instructions will be emailed to you after payment is received).
- A professional copy editor reviews your piece for grammatical problems per the Chicago Manual of Style.
- We submit the copy edited piece to you.
- You continue the book development process (illustrations, book design, etc.).
Timeline: Generally, about 1 week per 20,000 words. But, as with any project, this timeline can change based on multiple variables (such as how long it takes you to send the manuscript to us, office holidays, how long your payment takes to be finalized, etc.).
